Choosing to sit on the couch and watch television rather than hit the gym has been known for countless years to be an unwise decision. But there’s more: Your favorite prime-time programs could be making you more susceptible to adult-onset diabetes. A study published in the journal Diabetic Medicine found that for every five-hour-a-week increase in TV viewing over the span of five years, multiple biomarkers for diabetes risk — including insulin levels and insulin resistance — were significantly increased in men and women.
