When you hit the beach this summer, you want your body to be what’s sizzling — not your body fat. To help strip off the fat you accumulated during the colder months and display the muscle you built at the gym during the offseason, add these one-off supplements to your outdoor program.

Caffeine Caffeine boosts your ability to train with more intensity and strength, allowing you to burn more body fat. Most important, though, caffeine is an effective fat burner in its own right, increasing your metabolic rate and releasing fat stored in fat cells.

Take 100 to 300 milligrams two to three times per day between meals, with one dose 30 to 60 minutes before workouts.

Green-Tea Extract The active compound in green tea is EGCG, which blocks an enzyme that breaks down norepinephrine. This allows greater epinephrine release, stimulating more fat burning.

Take a product that contains 500 to 1,000 milligrams of green-tea extract standardized for 50 percent EGCG two to three times a day between meals, with one dose about an hour before workouts.

Yohimbine The active ingredient in the bark of the West African tree Pausinystalia yohimbe promotes the release of fat from fat stores, allowing it to be burned as energy.

Take2 to 10 milligrams two to three times per day between meals, with one dose 30 to 60 minutes before workouts.
