If chronic neck pain is putting a damper on your workouts, not to mention your quality of life, you might want to consider supplementing your training with yoga. A recent study conducted in Germany and Austria and published in The Journal of Pain analyzed more than 50 neck pain sufferers. Researchers had roughly half of them participate in a regular yoga regimen, while the other half did a more generic “self-care exercise” program. After 10 weeks, the yoga group reported significantly less neck pain than the non-yoga group, which the scientists believe was a result of decreased muscle tension and enhanced relaxation as a result of the yoga classes.
