Ready to drink — it’s the phrase that makes most athletes sigh with pleasure, knowing they won’t have to measure, mix or clean up after taking their supplements. And while many brands have a few RTD products in their portfolio, ABB Performance has devoted its full attention to perfecting the art of RTD supplements since 1985. “Our customers love our products for the grab-and-go convenience combined with pure quality,” says Tim Weigard, communications coordinator of ABB Performance and its parent company, Optimum Nutrition.
One of ABB’s newest products is Diet Turbo Half & Half. As the name suggests, this refreshing 8.5-ounce half iced tea, half lemonade shot delivers 90 milligrams of caffeine (about the same as a cup of coffee) with no calories, carbs, sugar or fat. Or, if you’re looking for a little more oomph, Weigard suggests Speed Stack. With 5 calories and 1 measly carb, it will up your caffeine intake to 250 milligrams, plus you’ll get 960 milligrams of the company’s MethXanth Stack, which is packed with DMAE, guarana, yerba mate, theobromine, synephrine and octopamine.
Still feeling sluggish? Then Speed Stack Pumped N.O. is your answer, but be forewarned: Weigard describes it as “fairly intense,” which is code for “will knock your gym socks off.” Each bottle assaults your senses with 300 milligrams of caffeine, plus arginine and glycerol to promote a pump. With just 30 calories and zero sugar, the new Black Cherry flavor is not to be missed, Weigard says.
If you’re in the mood to mix just a little bit, ABB offers a new powdered product alternative that adds beta-alanine, betaine and creatine monohydrate to the mix. “Speed Stack Pumped N.O. powder incorporates a number of performance-supporting ingredients anchored by an energy and alertness blend that provides 250 milligrams of caffeine, which is about what 2½ cups of strong coffee would provide,” says Jay Jacobsen, brand advocacy manager for ABB Performance. “The levels of beta-alanine, betaine and creatine are intended to contribute to amounts consumed from other supplements used throughout the training day.”
If you’re looking for noncarbonated, stimulant-free hydration, ABB’s newest performance beverage — Hydro Durance — is formulated to provide active adults with sustained energy and hydration support while helping to protect muscle tissue from excessive breakdown during exercise. “Refreshing watermelon and orange cooler flavors contain an advanced formulation of water-absorbing dipeptides to promote hydration, leucine peptides for anti-catabolic muscle protection, and staged carbohydrates designed to boost stamina for intense training or competition in any sport,” says Cara Hickey, associate brand manager with ABB.
Each 18-fluid-ounce bottle of Hydro Durance provides 30 grams of tangy fruit-flavored carbohydrates to fuel performance, along with 1.5 grams of amino-acid peptides. At just 120 calories, it won’t tip the scales of even the most strict diet plan.
The best part of ABB’s impressive slate of products is that quality is just about guaranteed. “Our customers have come to learn that the taste of the product they drink today will be the same as yesterday’s and the same as tomorrow’s,” Weigard says. “This is because our products are bottled at our own manufacturing plant in Walterboro, S.C., so we maintain quality control. The facility is GMP registered by NSF and is NSF GMP Certified for Sport.”
