One week after finishing third at the Europa Battle of Champions in Hartford, Essa Obaid took first place at the Wings of Strength in Chicago.
The big Emirati looked noticeably fuller and thicker than he did a week ago, a marked improvement that once again gave him the edge over runner up Fred Smalls, who finished fourth in Hartford.
An Nguyen took third place in his first pro show with an impressive display that firmly establishes him as a top up and coming talent to look out for in the coming months.
Armenian veteran Grigori Atoyan finished fourth, a major improvement over his disappointing 10th place finish in Hartford. His strong showing was hampered by a leg injury from a weeks ago that still affected his flexibility to a certain extent.
Adorthus Cherry took the fifth spot, the first top five finish of his career.
Jamal Ahmed Elmadawy of Kuwait took first place, beating out the Derik Farnsworth of the U.S. and Sweden’s Ahmad Ahmad.
